InVasc's technologies address current deficiencies in drug development and have created compounds that have strong indications towards the treatment of atherosclerosis, inflammation, hypertension and diabetes and other disorders that are often present in conjunction with these diseases, such as depression and aging.

InVasc's patented technologies have significant advantages for the following reasons:

  • Eliminates need for any high through-put screening (HTS) process thereby significantly reducing effort, expense and infrastructure (such as robots)
  • Enables rapid pre-specified starting points for establishing compound libraries

Products developed from InVasc's patented technologies:

  • Provide comprehensive coverage of high value (and high priority) molecular targets that have been demonstrated to be important in atherosclerosis and related conditions
  • Have high specificity (i.e., no cross-reactivity) owing to
        - structure based modeling of template compounds
        - confirmation in limited and focused in-vitro and in-vivo cell-based assays
  • Have lower toxicity owing to significant expertise in manipulating structure-functional determinants of contender compounds based on proprietary modeling approaches

‘SARVASC’ Technology

InVasc’s compounds are uniquely designed

  • One drug treating multiple diseases
  • Multiple mechanisms of action within each disease

This novel approach refers to therapeutic principles with varying mechanisms of action, targeting multiple pathways designed into one single drug application. Such a drug will accomplish what multiple drugs do and yet offer convenience of dosing.

InVasc’s Focus on Diseases

Atherosclerosis is a systemic process that affects not only the coronary arteries but also the cerebral vessels, renal (kidney) arteries, and arteries supplying the lower extremities and reproductive organs, resulting in strokes, hypertension, amputations and impotence. Thus the burden of atherosclerosis (and corresponding market) is not restricted to coronary heart disease but includes strokes (cerebrovascular disease), peripheral arterial disease and erectile dysfunction.

Metabolic Syndrome Atherosclerosis in the metabolic syndrome is accelerated and is felt to be attributable to the dyslipidemia, hypetension and obesity that is inherent to this complex disorder. A number of drugs are being developed in InVasc that specifically target these processes in metabolic syndrome and through alterations in each of these components of the metabolic syndrome may collectively impact on this disorder.

Peripheral arterial disease (PAD), another manifestation of atherosclerosis, affects over 5 million adults aged 40 years and older and disproportionately affects older age individuals, non-Hispanic blacks, current smokers, diabetics, and persons with reduced kidney function. In addition, there is a high prevalence of traditional and nontraditional cardiovascular risk factors among persons with both CAD and PAD.

Diabetes in America

  • 21 million Americans are diagnosed with type-2 diabetes
  • 1.5 million new cases of diabetes were diagnosed in people aged 20 or older in 2005.
  • 41 million over the age of 20 have pre-diabetes
Pre-diabetes is becoming increasingly common among adults, adolescents, and children. Approximately 25-40% of these individuals will develop type-2 diabetes in a few years and will go on to develop heart disease and stroke.
