INV-155

In middle-aged women, the elderly and certain patients with cardiovascular disease, stroke is a critical concern and an unmet clinical need. As patients present themselves at the emergency room with a transient ischemic attack (TIA) or an obvious stroke, the attending physician has limited drug interventions at their disposal. INV-155 represents a "first-in-class” series of drugs to assist in helping these patients. In preclinical studies, INV-155 in combination with antihypertensives has been shown to act in a synergistic manner, and when used prophylactically, dramatically reduced the size of infarcts in in-vivo models. Studies are continuing to further assess the ability of INV-155 in at-risk patients, as well as in patients who initially present with a stroke.
As with INV-311, INV-155 could potentially advance to the IND stage in 2012 or 2013. InVasc is interested in finding a partner to collaborate in the development of INV-155.
