Board of Directors

InVasc Therapeutics’ Board of Directors currently has three members: Dr. Larry Dillaha, Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Sciele Pharma, Inc.; Dr. William Johnston, Chief Executive Officer of InVasc Therapeutics, Inc.; and Dr. Bobby Khan, Director of Cardiovascular Research at Emory/Grady Memorial Hospital.  InVasc is planning to expand its Board to five members upon closing its Series A round.

Larry M. Dillaha, M.D.
Executive Vice President & Chief Medical Officer, Sciele Pharma, Inc.
Dr. Dillaha is Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Sciele Pharma, Inc. in Atlanta, Georgia.  Dr. Dillaha has an extensive background in the pharmaceutical industry.  Prior to joining Sciele, he served as Medical Director for Sanofi-Aventis and was involved in several major clinical studies for the company’s lead compounds, Avapro (irbesartan) and Plavix (clopidogrel).  Dr. Dillaha also has considerable experience working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in the development and approval of drug therapies.  Dr. Dillaha earned his M.D. degree as well as a B.A. in Biology from The University of Tennessee.

William D. Johnston, Ph.D.
Chief Executive Officer, InVasc Therapeutics, Inc.
Dr. Johnston joined InVasc in April 2009 with more than 35 years of experience in executive management of biotechnology and medical companies.  Previously he was President and CEO of Inhibitex, Inc., where he took the company from the university laboratory to the public markets raising $220 million and reaching a peak market cap of $320 million.  Prior to Inhibitex, Dr. Johnston spent twenty-two years at Baxter Healthcare. For six years he was the vice president of Baxter’s central research organization. Subsequently, Dr. Johnston was general manager of Baxter's gene therapy business unit.  He has served as an advisor or a member on numerous corporate, community, industrial and academic boards.  Dr. Johnston earned his B.S. in Chemistry and Ph.D. in organic chemistry at Brigham Young University

Bobby V. Khan, M.D., Ph.D.
Director of Cardiovascular Research, Emory/Grady Memorial Hospital
Dr. Khan is the Director of Cardiovascular Research and Supervisor of the Vascular Research Laboratory at Emory/Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA.  He is also an Associate Professor of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine and one of the founders of InVasc Therapeutics.  In 2009, Dr. Khan was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship.  He has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers, served as the principal investigator for several Phase II clinical trials and as a reviewer for several prestigious medical journals.  Dr. Khan has also served on several planning committees for the scientific sessions of the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association, as well as on the scientific advisory boards of Sanofi-Aventis, Dai-Ichi Sankyo and Bristol Myers Squibb. He has received grant support from the National Institutes of Health, Pfizer, Novartis, Amgen, Boehringer-Ingelheim and Forest Pharmaceuticals.  Dr. Khan earned his B.A. in Chemistry at Vanderbilt University and his M.D. and Ph.D. at The University of Tennessee Medical School.
